"Beyond the Gate: Exploring the Horizons of World Literature"

This panel invites proposals that explore some aspect of world
literature. We are particularly interested in papers that challenge
the modernist view of a unified world, or papers that address the need
to negotiate between the local and the global when analyzing and
discussing world lit. An additional panel will address the special
concerns involved with teaching world literature in the college
classroom.

A detailed 250-word abstract should be submitted by December 1, 2007,
to Matthew Landers <middlestate_at_gmail.com>. Papers should be 15
minutes in length. Please submit your abstract in the body of your
email. No attachments, please.

In case you were wondering, the Mardi Gras conference takes place
during the weekend of Mardi Gras. Baton Rouge is 50 minutes from New
Orleans, by car.
