CALL FOR PAPERS -- SAFUNDI: THE JOURNAL OF SOUTH AFRICAN AND AMERICAN
COMPARATIVE STUDIES
http://www.safundi.com

DUE DATE: May 1, 2005

Safundi is seeking contributions that offer the grounds for U.S. and South
African comparisons or connections. For upcoming issues, we particularly
encourage submissions on the following three topics:

(a) South Africa within the scope of current American foreign policy.

(b) The "exportability" of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and its
applicability in the United States. (For inspiration on this topic, see
Safundi Newsletter 12: http://newsletter.safundi.com.)

(c) South African and U.S. HIV/AIDS policy and the global influence of
American pharmaceutical companies.

OTHER TOPICS: We publish papers on all topics: politics, sociology, law,
economics, art, music, letters, history, etc. Essays and personal experience
pieces are also welcomed.

PUBLICATION INFO: Safundi is a peer-reviewed, quarterly, academic journal
devoted to the comparative study of South Africa and the United States. It
is accredited by the South African Department of Education. George
Fredrickson of Stanford University serves as Patron of the Board.
Christopher Saunders of the University of Cape Town and Rita Barnard of the
University of Pennsylvania are the journal's Editors-in-Chief. Safundi has
an editorial board of more than 30 scholars and a membership of more than
2,250 individuals worldwide.

SUBMISSION INFO: Review the writer's guidelines at
http://submissions.safundi.com and then submit your paper in either RTF or
Microsoft Word DOC format to submissions_at_safundi.com. Safundi evaluates
papers using a blind submission process. Papers of a comparative or
transactional trans-Atlantic nature receive priority.

Please circulate this call for papers widely. Thank you.
