Call for Papers: Flann O’Brien Collection

Submissions are invited for a collection of essays on the work of Flann
O’Brien.

Following a conference organized by the School of English, Drama and Film
at University College Dublin to mark the 40th anniversary of O’Brien’s
death, a volume of essays will be published representing a range of
scholarly approaches to his work. This volume will seek to reappraise the
O’Brien oeuvre and academic debate within the field of O’Brien studies.

Contributors might consider (among other topics):
- cultural and historical context,
- appraisals of O’Brien’s influences and legacies,
- queer readings of O’Brien,
- critical analysis of his journalism,
- contribution to writing in the Irish language.

Articles will be approximately 7,000 words in length to be submitted by
November 1 2008.
