Bodies and Things: Victorian Literature and the Matter of Culture,
27 September 2008, University of Oxford

****************REGISTRATION OPEN FOR NON-SPEAKERS*************************

Registration forms are available now at our website www.bodiesandthings.org
for non-speakers to register for the conference. The deadline for
registrations is Monday 15 September 2008, after which a late fee will be
charged.

***************BAVS BURSARIES FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS *******************

The organisers are delighted to announce sixteen bursaries for postgraduate
students to attend the conference at no cost, made possible by a British
Association of Victorian Studies (BAVS) Conference Grant.
To apply for the bursaries, applicants should state in less than 100 words
how attending the conference will contribute to their research. Completed
statements should be sent, along with the applicant’s name and
institutional affiliation, to elbodies_at_herald.ox.ac.uk no later than
Thursday 28 August 2008. A separate scheme is in place for postgraduates
who are giving a paper at the conference, so we would strongly encourage
those who are not speaking to apply since half of the available bursaries
will be allocated to non-speakers.

Plenary speakers: Isobel Armstrong, Elaine Freedgood, Cora Kaplan

We hope to be able to display the programme on the website by August.
