We are editing a critical anthology on The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh. We have received papers from scholars and teachers from some Universities in the United States and South America apart from papers authored by teachers of colleges and universities in India. Ghosh himself has also been kind enough to give an interview to be printed in the volume. We require a few more essays especially focussing on the following topics:

1) The Shadow Lines discussed from a Feminist perspective
2) A study of the character of Tha'amma
3) The Shadow Lines compared with another novel written on Partition by another author
4) A comparitive study of The Shadow Lines with other novels of Ghosh
However, submissions on other topics related to The Shadow Lines are also welcome.

The book is going to be published by a reputed academic publisher in India sometime during the middle of this year.

We are following MLA in-text author-date citation, and including the Works Cited list at the end of the paper. As a rule, we are trying to keep the footnotes to a bare minimum, using it only when absolutely necessary in making a point towards the understanding of the paper.

Abstracts of the paper and the probable title to be used should be e-mailed to ain.sandip@gmail.com by the 20th of April, 2009, and the completed paper as an MS Word attachment in double-spaced format by the 25th of May, 2009.
