The J.R.R. Tolkien/C.S. Lewis panel of the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association Conference seeks abstracts of papers (250 words) that address various aspects of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. Discussion of the film versions of Rings and Narnia are welcome. The chair is open to a wide variety of topics and critical approaches. The aim of the panel is to identify and characterize the recent wide acclaim given to both authors as serious thinkers and artists who have gained broad and deep appeal as popular entertainers.

Choices of AV equipment are limited to DVD/VCR/monitor/audio cassette player/carousel and overhead projector/screen.

Deadline for submission: 30 June 2009
Conference meets at Hilton Boston Logan Airport, Boston, MA
Meeting dates are 5-7 November 2009
