Essays on Faith & Ecology

Submissions due September 1st

Submissions are now open for an anthology of essays exploring the sometimes strained, often misunderstood relationship between ecology and spirituality. Essays should address some aspect of ecological awareness within a faith community and can consider themes of: sacramentalism, sustainability, dietary habits, prayer, meditation, activism, ecumentalism, new monasticism, literature and ecocriticism, human interaction with the natural world and others.

This collection of essays will explore, but is not limited to, the following questions:
How does ecological awareness inform spiritual practice?
What does it mean to have faith in something transcendent yet seek to protect the material world?
Is environmentalism in conflict with spirituality?
How does faith influence ecological perspectives?
Should communities of faith be doing more to protect natural resources?
Is sustainable living possible? Is is prescribed by religious tradition?

Guidelines for Submission:

Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, 5,000 words maximum in Word Document format.
Please do not send multiple submissions.
Please do not send queries or abstracts. We consider only complete essays.

We accept material from all over the world, written in English
Previously published material is permitted
We accept simultaneous submissions, but do ask to be kept informed of the status of your manuscript.
