CFP: Acting Aging Now (ASAP: 22-25 October; abstract deadline 7 August).
We are seeking a replacement paper for an approved panel to be held at the inaugural conference of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP). The panel, “Acting Aging Now,” centers on the performance of age in the twenty-first century.

As a result of widespread demographic changes and other factors, assumptions about the manifestations of age and the cultural profiles of age and youth are evolving. This panel will investigate new ways of envisioning what it might mean to “act one’s age” as manifested in recent works of visual art, literature, performance, or other media. The other papers accepted for inclusion in this panel treat a German film, and American film, and a French graphic novel. Abstracts on any kind of contemporary media (including television, film, advertising, social networking, etc.) and from any geographical origin are welcome.
