Postdoctoral Fellowship Modernism and Avant-garde 2010-2012

The Modern Literature and Culture Research Center (MLCRC) at Ryerson University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join an energetic, diverse, and widely published research team at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto, an institution known for its innovation and cutting-edge scholarship approaches. The Fellow will work closely with the Canada Research Chair in Modern Literature and Culture and other members of the team to conduct research, author manuscripts, mentor graduate students and interns, and participate in research outreach activities. Both mentored and independent research experiences, as well as collaborations, are offered to the Fellow in preparation for a future research career. Ongoing training is offered in literary and cultural research.
The full-time fellowship, which runs through the Ryerson Post Doctoral Fellows Competition, is funded for three-years (renewable annually) with a salary of 41,000 per annum plus benefits (approximate total value of award: $50,000). The Fellow will be based in the Modern Literature and Culture Research Center. The successful candidate must assume his or her position by February 2010 at the latest. This date may be extended in cases where successful non-Canadian candidates require extra time to obtain a Canadian visa.
Review of applications will begin on August 15, 2009. Candidates must have a PhD in English, Comparative Literature, Communication and Culture or related fields, and some relevant scholarly publications. Applicants should forward their curriculum vitae, a representative research/writing sample such as a manuscript or publication (no more than 25 pages), and a brief statement of research interests and future goals to Dr. Irene Gammel, English Department, Ryerson University; firstname.lastname@example.org .
