Our Monsters, Ourselves
Following the line of thought that societies' monsters in many ways define them, "Our Monsters, Ourselves" hopes to open the discussion of the ways monsters in contemporary North American Anglophone fiction and film have come to represent the tacit panics, problems and pleasures of their specific historical moment. Papers representing work explaining monster/moment dialectics ranging from Steven King's 1989 "The Dark Half" to the contemporary Twilight and True Blood series will be read with equal interest. 200-400 word abstract to email@example.com by September 15th.
