REMINDER: CFP: Walter Benjamin and Memory. Deadline 30th September 2009full name / name of organization: NeMLA Convention 2010 Montreal contact email: stablesw@tcd.ie Walter Benjamin and Memory This panel invites papers that consider the theory of memory as it emerges in and through the work of Walter Benjamin. It hopes to bring together those interested in exploring the complex figuration of forgetting to be found in his thought. Contributions might confine their attention to Benjamin´s corpus, or stage comparative enquires into such areas as holocaust memory, trauma, or nostalgia. Papers that consider the commemoration of Benjamin´s life – in novels, films, at the memorial site in Portbou – are also welcome.
