Multi-Cultural Voices in Literature and the Arts of the 1920’s—
An Interdisciplinary Symposium

The Department of English at Texas Southern University will host the Twelfth Annual Interdisciplinary McCleary Symposium, March 25-26, 2010, Houston, Texas.

The general topic for the presentations is “Multi-Cultural Voices in Literature and the Arts of the 1920’s.” Scholarly research and presentations are invited that cover a wide area of interest, including but not limited to the following:

The Harlem Renaissance
The Lost Generation
Modernism in Literature, Art, and Music
Post WW I Thought
Expatriate Artists
Literature and War
The Anti-war novel and short story
Surrealism
Poetic and Artistic Influences

Specific areas of interest include literature and culture, women’s studies, drama, music, art, song, painting, historical viewpoints, political economics, and politics. Abstracts of 300 words or less are requested. Texas Southern is located at 3100 Cleburne, Houston, Texas 77004.
