Journal Forum on Writing at the University: Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies [6 NOV]full name / name of organization: Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies contact email: amit-baishya@uiowa.edu The Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies seeks submissions to a forum on the everyday practices of academic writing, including teaching, writing, and publishing. The forum will be published in the next issue of the Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies. We hope to present multiple perspectives from across disciplines, illuminating the diverse spectrum of writing practice, pedagogy, and scholarship. To introduce the forum, we’ve published our first two essays online: “Wiggle Room and Writing” by Virginia R. Dominguez and “A University’s Writing Practices from the Inside Perspective of the Writing Center” by Carol Severino and Matthew Gilchrist. Both are engaging, thought provoking, practice-based essays about how writing is taught and produced at the University. Both essays provide insights that can be applied to pedagogy and practice, as well as provoke self-reflection about what we do and why. They can be found at http://www.uiowa.edu/~ijcs/writing/wu_intro.htm. We are seeking submissions that share similar concerns as these two essays. Submissions should range from 1,500-3,000 words in MLA format. Submissions and questions can be sent to Amit Baishya at amit-baishya@uiowa.edu or to the Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies, English Department, 308 English-Philosophy Building, Deadline for Submission: 6 November 2009. Fields of Interest Include: Pedagogy: Practice: Publishing and Collecting: The Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies is a peer-reviewed publication edited by graduate students that mixes traditional approaches and contemporary interventions in the interdisciplinary humanities and interpretive social sciences.
