Conference Call For Papers

Topic: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Environmental Sustainability

The current rise in environmental consciousness invites an examination
of the interdisciplinary boundaries in environmental thought. This
one-day conference seeks critical comparative studies on a broad range
of environmentally-related topics. Contributions in the form of
theoretically-oriented scholarship and creative work are invited from
writers, critics, and artists in the humanities and sciences. We
presentations on issues of interest, which may include but are not
limited to the following areas of interest: environmental literature
and art-works, studies in eco-feminism, eco-criticism, representations
of the environment in literature and film/photography, activism,
philosophy, presentations on globalization and the environment, public
spaces, aesthetics, urban studies and architecture, technology and the
environment, travel writing, economic, political and social analysis.

Please send a short abstract with proposed title (150 words) and a
brief biography or CV to Jamie Johnson ( Please be
sure to include the proposal as an attachment as well as in the body of
an email. Also include on the attachment and body email your complete
contact information (email address, phone number, address).

Audio-visual requests should be included in proposals. Presenters
should expect approximately 20 minutes presentation time, with panel
discussion to follow. The organizers of this conference expect that a
publication of selected essays will be generated following this event
and are currently in the process of negotiating appointment of a
speaker to deliver a plenary address.

The deadline for submissions is 15th June 2008.
