Abstracts due: Nov. 30, 2009full name / name of organization: John Pennington St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Packers contact email: john.pennington@snc.edu Call for Papers: A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America Conference Date of conference: May 26-28, 2010 Abstract Deadline: November 30, 2009 The Sport and Society in America Conference invites proposals for individual papers or complete sessions focused on sport in literature. Scholarly critical submissions should be guided by the Sport Literature Association’s goal to “celebrate the intersection of literature with the world of play, games and sport.” All topics related to sport in literature are welcome, which includes essays on fiction, poetry, drama, film, and creative nonfiction. Of particular interest are papers that explore the following: gender and sexuality, class, race, disabilities in sport, traditional and nontraditional sports, and sport and culture. In addition, the conference will include sessions on original fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. For more details about the convention, please go to www.snc.edu/sportandsociety.
