Assuming Gender - Issue 2full name / name of organization: Cardiff University contact email: gender@cf.ac.uk Assuming Gender ** We are now inviting submissions for our second issue, due out in the Spring of 2010** Assuming Gender is an electronic, international, peer-reviewed academic journal that seeks to explore the various ways in which gender is ‘assumed’ in social and cultural texts, practices, and subjectivities. To ‘assume’, in this context, may signify any or all of the following: • ‘To adopt, choose, elect, to some position’ Yet, these definitions are only a starting point in investigating constructions of gender. Assuming Gender will feature cutting-edge research in feminist theories, queer theories, critical and cultural theory, literature, film studies, sociology and other relevant fields. Assuming Gender is particularly interested in receiving articles that expand upon, complicate, and trouble issues of gender in the below areas of inquiry: • Performativity Proposals are welcome from any academic discipline or theoretical framework, and can cover any historical period. The deadline for submission is the 28th of February, 2010 We welcome contributions from academics and graduate students according to the following guidelines: Articles and reviews for submission must represent original work and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Material can be submitted in either print (2 copies, single sided) or electronic versions, preferably in MS-Word. Please consult the editorial board if you intend to submit in a different electronic format. Submissions must adhere to the MHRA style. If you intend to include images please include them as separate files, or on separate sheets (if submitting in print) Authors are advised to consult the MHRA style guide, which is available online at: http://www.mhra.org.uk/Publications/Books/StyleGuide/download.shtml. Submissions should include an abstract and a set of keywords to enable searching. Articles: All article submissions are subject to the normal process of anonymous peer review; authors are advised to include their names and contact details on separate cover sheets attached to copies of their manuscripts. Articles should be between 5000 and 8000 words in length and should be submitted to gender@cf.ac.uk or by post to The Editors Book Reviews: Communications regarding reviews should be addressed to The Reviews Editor at gender@cf.ac.uk.
