Literature and Culture in Conversation: the Exploration of Influence April 16-17 2010

The Baylor University English Graduate Department is inviting papers that encourage a dialogue on the convergence of literature and popular culture.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
The adaptation of literary works to film
The integration of literature and television
Literary conventions and visual media
The application of literary theories to music
Narrative in photography and art
Literary approaches to the graphic novel
How popular culture creates or reinforces gender constructs
The transformation of the memoir in popular culture
Evolution and adaptation of traditional myths and legends
Literature and the internet
weblogs
fan fiction
the impact of the publication of weblogs as bound text

Please include with your submission a brief CV
Abstracts must be no more than 500 words and should not contain identifying information

Panel submissions of at least three papers are welcome.
