Southern Poetry and Political Work - CFP for ALA 2010 (May 27-30) - Deadline 1/15/10
The Society for the Study of Southern Literature seeks proposals for a session at the 2010 ALA on "Southern Poetry and Political Work." We are interested in studies of political work, broadly defined, in southern poetry, from its beginnings to the present. Studies of particular writers or literary movements, social and political issues, pedagogical strategies for using such poetry in the classroom, and appropriate creative work are all welcome.
The American Literature Association will meet at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco in Embarcadero Center on May 27-30, 2010
(Thursday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend). Please email
abstracts and either a cover letter or 2-page CV by January 15, 2010, to Tara Powell at firstname.lastname@example.org. For information about the conference, consult the ALA website at www.americanliterature.org.
