Gertrude Stein Society at ALA (May 27-30, 2010; San Francisco; Deadline 1/15/10)
In anticipation of the founding of the Gertrude Stein Society at the next conference of the American Literature Association (May 27th-30th, San Francisco), papers which consider Gertrude Stein's work in various contexts are invited. In particular,
1) Papers that deal with Stein's writings as published in the journal transition, whether considered independently or in relation to other writers publishing there; or
2) Papers that consider any aspect of Gertrude Stein's work and/or her role as a public figure. Possible approaches might include but are not limited to the study of Stein in relation to modernisms/postmodernisms; Stein in the 21st century; Stein's work in relation to contemporary poets/writers; genre studies; language; gender and/or sexuality; historical perspectives.
Sessions to be held at the 21st Annual American Literature Association Conference in San Francisco, May 27-30, 2010.
Deadline for proposals: January 15, 2010. Please submit abstracts of up to 500 words with a CV to: Amy.Robbins@hunter.cuny.edu
