Ecce Ancilla Domini: The Virgin Mary and the Pearl-poet

The 2010 Patristic, Medieval and Renaissance Conference (PMR Conference) of the Augustinian Institute at Villanova University has announced its theme as the Virgin Mary in medieval culture. Under this rubric, I am organizing a panel of papers on the Virgin Mary in the works of Pearl-poet: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, Patience, and Cleanness. Studies may deal with one or more of the Cotton Nero a.X poems.

The 2010 PMR Conference will take place October 22-24, 2010 at the Villanova Conference Center, about a mile from the campus outside Philadelphia. Scheduled plenary speakers are Professor Rachel Fulton (History, University of Chicago) and Professor Brian Daley (Theology, University of Notre Dame).

Inquiries and abstracts of relevant studies should be sent to me by May 15, 2010.
