Steinbeck's Historiography -- MLA Special Session --February 25 Deadline

For the January 2011 MLA meeting in Los Angeles, a Special Session is being organized by the Center for Steinbeck Studies of San Jose State University: "Steinbeck's Historiography." Consideration given to topics related to Steinbeck's treatment of historical material, interpretations, historical theories explicitly or implicitly offered, or other approaches--for example, “Steinbeck’s version of French history in Pippin,” “The Romance of the Missions and Steinbeck’s California History,” “Whose History Is Viva Zapata!?,” “Just How Non-Teleological Is History in Steinbeck’s Fiction?,” “Manifest Destiny and Steinbeck’s Western History,” etc. Due by February 25th. Conference occurs in Los Angeles, January 6-9, 2011. All participants must be members of MLA as of April 7, 2010. Please send 50 to 250 word abstracts ASAP to Kevin Hearle: khearle@astound.net
