2010 ELLAK Global Conference on “Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the World in English: Crossing Borders and Building Bridges in Glocal and Transcultural Contexts, ” 2-4 December 2010, Daejeon Convention Center, Daejeon, Korea (Abstracts due April 1, 2010)

The 2010 ELLAK International Conference will provide an open forum for scholars from all over the world, as well as the ongoing dialogue of global exchanges and contestations in the fields of languages, literatures, cultures, films, and other representations in English that discuss border crossing and bridge building in glocal and transcultural contexts. Papers that examine and articulate in English the relationship between center(s) and margins in such geographical areas as Africa, Caribbean, India, Asia, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, as well as the significance, implications, and ramifications of those relationships, will be especially welcomed.

Topics may include the following (but not limited to):

- interdisciplinary approaches, anthropological approaches to literature, ethnic studies in language and literature, gay studies in language and literature, linguistic approaches to literature, literature and other arts, literature and religion, literature and science, philosophical approaches to literature, popular culture, postcolonial studies in literature and culture, psychological approaches to literature, sociological approaches to literature, women's studies in language and literature
- literary and cultural theory: hybrid, diaspora, gender, transgender, trauma and testimonial criticisms, ecocriticism, cybercriticism

Please submit a 500-word proposal and your bio-data by April 1, 2010, to the Organizing Committee at: conference@ellak.or.kr

The Committee will evaluate all submissions carefully and organize individual papers into thematic sessions, and will respond by May 1, 2010, by email. All presenters will be expected to submit their full papers by August 31, 2010; papers will be included in the conference proceedings.
