The Internationalist Review of Irish Culture solicits the submission of papers for the 2010 issue entitled Cleaning Up After the Tiger. Mediating the Crisis in Ireland
This issue will examine how Irish media, institutional discourses and literature have been representing the global financial crisis, which has had a particularly shocking impact on the economy and social life of post-Celtic Tiger Ireland. The volume aims to interrogate language and strategies of media communication and institutional efforts to represent and/or obfuscate the current effects of the crisis on various aspects of Irish society, such as the demographics of the contemporary Irish work force, the labour market, education, the health system, and social practices. Creative discussion of existing and new schemes and models of representing the present historical conjuncture are expected to shed light on the changing relationships between communication, economics, the transformation/disintegration of Irish identity, and shared cultural memory on the island as a whole. Papers focusing on the response of Irish arts and literature to the crisis are also welcome.
The IRIC invites researchers from different professional and cultural backgrounds, to submit contributions in English of up to 4,000 words following the MLA style by April 15, 2010, to: andrea.binelli@lett.unitn.it

Submission of a manuscript will be taken to imply that the material is original and that no similar paper is being, or will be, submitted elsewhere, either in whole or substantial part.
Authors who are not native English speakers may choose to have their manuscript revised by professionals supplying editing services before submission to improve the English.
Papers will be blind-reviewed by two anonymous referees. The editorial board will rely on these reviews to select the papers to be published in the issue. Authors of selected papers will then receive a response letter with observations and suggestions by 30 April.
Final acceptance of manuscripts will depend on a satisfactory resolution of issues raised in the response letter and an explanation on how comments and observations have been dealt with. Revised papers must be sent by 20 May. Revised MS sent at a later date will be treated like new submissions. If this schedule presents logistical problems for you, please contact the editorial board. Final decision will be communicated during the following week.
