[UPDATE] Geocritical Explorations (collection on Geocriticism) - March 8, 2010full name / name of organization: Robert T. Tally contact email: robert.tally@txstate.edu Geocritical Explorations: Space, Place, and Mapping in Literary and Cultural Studies On the heels of a successful MLA special session panel devoted to the subject of “geocriticism,” I welcome contributions to a proposed collection of essays, "Geocritical Explorations: Space, Place, and Mapping in Literary and Cultural Studies." Geocriticism is understood broadly, as a critical method that emphasizes the spatial in literary and cultural productions. Papers may discuss the overall theory of geocriticism, compare geocriticism to other areas (e.g., ecocriticism, geopoetics) or disciplines (architecture, philosophy), examine a particular text (for example, performing a geocritical reading of a given novel), or any other related practice. Please send 300-word abstracts and a brief CV to robert.tally@txstate.edu by March 8, 2010. Inquiries also welcome. cfp categories: african-american american classical_studies cultural_studies_and_historical_approaches ecocriticism_and_environmental_studies eighteenth_century journals_and_collections_of_essays medieval postcolonial renaissance romantic science_and_culture theory travel_writing twentieth_century_and_beyond victorian
