Class Politics in Recent Los Angeles Fiction and Film (3/3/10; MLA 1/6/11-1/9/11 Los Angeles)full name / name of organization: Jessica Maucione/Gonzaga University contact email: maucionej@gonzaga.edu This panel will examine the representation, exploration, and glossing over of class politics and class conflict in recent literature and film of Los Angeles. A variety of theoretical approaches welcome: including but not limited to ecological/environmental/ecofeminist, Marxist/Marxist-feminist, late capitalist/postmodern, etc. Papers foregrounding class will be given priority, but discussions of the intersections between class and race/ethnicity/gender/sexuality/urban studies are both welcome and expected.
