Call for Indian English poems
Indian writing in English has produced innumerable poets but only few of them have been fortunate enough to be included in representative anthologies. The proliferation of Indian English poetry in day-to-day journals and newspapers demonstrates the poetic fire that these poets exhibit. It is not surprising that many of these poets have published rich poetry and composed quite a good number of volumes for the sake of satisfying their poetic urges. These uncrowned kings of verses need judicious readers who can appreciate their poetic sojourn.

Many of us sadly admit that Indian poetry in English signifies only those poets who often either have a foreign degree and tag or have settled abroad. These poet, despite the fact, that they seethe in different sorts of discriminations and then fall back upon singing the ancient glory of their motherland or are driven with backward journey feeling to colour their verses. They look at their country from a distance and also with a difference. As a result the real India is often not represented. A vast nation like India cannot be represented in a space-time vacuum. India’s long ancient chequered past and its volatile present also needs to be voiced not only through pandemonium in parliament but also through the soothing realization that Indian poets scribble every day. There are innumerable poets in every nook and corner of India performing such arduous tasks though they do not attract the intellectual eye or ear.

We propose to bring to light those poets who are restlessly contributing their gems to Indian English poetry. Our anthology aims at publishing three best poems of such poets who want to be a part of our project. The poets to be included in this anthology should have a minimum of three poetry collections to their credit. However, the number can be reduced in exceptional cases. Every poet will be allotted three pages to accommodate their poems. Since this is entirely a non-profit making gesture, the poets are to bear a sum of Rs. 200 towards the cost involved in publishing. However, all the poets will get a complimentary copy of the book. They may also buy any number of copies at half the price of the book. The anthology will be published by a leading Indian publisher based at Delhi.

All interested poets are requested to send five poems (they consider their best) along with their brief biographical sketches and two PP size coloured photographs to any of the two editors latest by 15thApri, 2010. They are also expected to send the requisite fee in case their poems are selected and included in the anthology. It must be noted that the poems should be accompanied by copyright declaration. The poems (both in hard as well as soft copies) can be sent at the following addresses:
