Call for papers for the 2011 Annual Conference of the Renaissance Society of America

Dear Colleagues:

I am seeking four papers to complete a panel proposal for the 2011 Annual Conference of the Renaissance Society of America, which will take place in Montreal. 

The panel ‘Printed Books and the Production of Meaning’ explores how printed books’ formal appearances shaped, in Renaissance Europe, the reception of content of certain texts and editions, defined the idea of their genesis or provenance, influenced their use, fulfilled readers’ expectations, and interacted with the book reader, listener and owner.
 
Subjects that could be explored include, but are not limited to, book size, typography, mise en page, illustration and bookbinding.

I am especially interested in interdisciplinary proposals that are concerned with history, literature, theology, music, art or any other field related to the key theme of the panel.
