Science in Mimesisfull name / name of organization: Renaissance Society of America (March 2011) panel contact email: jfleming@sfu.ca In recent years, many scholars of early-modern art and literature have examined the new science for its modes of representation. Perhaps it is time for us to reconsider, instead, how the new science was represented in early-modern art and literature. Papers are invited for a panel or panels on period mimeses of emergent natural science. The data can be literary or artistic; the science, from any area or discipline. The goal, however, is to find out how scientific innovations were received and understood by mimetic workers. Please email proposal and cv to jfleming@sfu.ca by May 10th. cfp categories: interdisciplinary international_conferences renaissance science_and_culture
