[Updated] -- Nation and the Mother Tongue(s) -- NEW Deadline May 4, 2010
The shape of nationalist fervor is drawn against a background of coherent visuals. But what if the mother tongue speaks in pluralities at the very origin of the nation? This panel seeks to examine the roles of multilingualisms, accents, dialects, and inflections within and upon the national project, as well as the effects of gendered experience on nationalist constructs.
This panel welcomes papers from a wide variety of disciplines and scholarly perspectives, including pedagogy and the interdisciplines.
