WIREGRASS GRADUATE CONFERENCE IN ENGLISH STUDIES is sponsored by
Valdosta State University's English Graduate Student Association

We encourage submissions on any topics related to English Studies. Suggested categories include:

• Media Studies
• Popular Culture
• World Literature
• Genre Literature
• British Literature
• American Literature
• Pedagogy
• Composition and Rhetoric

The conference welcomes all graduate students in English Studies to participate and share their current research, creative writings, and insightful perspectives. The conference is designed to bridge relationships between graduate students from universities around the country. Additionally, students will be able to present their work in an environment that fosters professional and intellectual growth through the exchange of diverse scholastic ideas. We look forward to learning more about your scholarship and appreciate your interest in our conference.

Please note the new submission deadline and conference date. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and submitted to Kristy Singletary at kmurphy@valdosta.edu by Friday, August 6, 2010. Those selected to present at the conference will be notified via email by Friday, August 13, 2010. The Wiregrass Graduate Conference in English Studies will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.

Opening Speaker: Dr. Niles Reddick (Ph.D FSU), VP of Academic Affairs at ABAC and author of the short story collection Road Kill Art and Other Oddities and the novel Lead Me Home.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Brigitte Byrd, (Ph.D FSU) professor at Clayton State University, poet and author of 3 collections of poetry: Song of a Living Room (Ahsahta, 2009), The Dazzling Land (Black Zinnias, 2008), and Fence Above the Sea (Ahsahta, 2005).
