Cummings Society and the Society's journal, Spring, invite abstracts for 20-minute papers for the 39th annual Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture since 1900, February 24-26, 2011, at the University of Louisville (http://www.thelouisvilleconference.com). An experimental artist of new forms in poetry, prose, painting, and theater, Cummings goes beyond a mere radical formalism to fashion a cultural aesthetics that engages the contemporary issues of his time. We invite papers that explore relationships between form and culture in Cummings' modernist consciousness, along with the impact of the two world wars and the rise of communism and fascism on his poetic and artistic innovations.
