"The Other: Between Delight and Aversion"

The importance of the Other in the unfolding of consciousness is crucial. As socialcreatures, the Other plays an omnipresent role in our development. The Other can be any entity placed in contrast or comparison to oneself: person, community, nation or race. According to Hegel, resolutioninvolves a dialectical process in which the Self attempts to reconcile the separation between the itself and the Other. Nothing angers, enchants or provokes us like the Other.

More than Thought,a scholarly electronic literary journal devoted to exploring manifestations of the development of human consciousness in the literatures, is currently accepting submissions for the next e-issue. The deadline for submissions
is September 15, 2010. The posting date for this e-issue will be November 1, 2010.

We are seeking criticism (13-20 pages), literature, and reviews, in
English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Please submit an electronic copy of the work as a Microsoft Word document in an attachment to morethanthought@hotmail.com Because all submissions undergo a
double blind review, please include a separate coversheet with the title of the work and the author’s name, email address and institution.
