Social Networks, Communities, and/or Public Service [Journal Submissions] 11/25/10full name / name of organization: Proteus: A Journal of Ideas contact email: proteus@ship.edu _Proteus: A Journal of Ideas_ seeks submissions that explore themes relating to social networks, communities, and/or public service for an upcoming issue titled "Building and Strengthening Communities and Social Networks." We are soliciting a wide range of articles and creative works—including broad theoretical inquiries, individual case studies, traditional scholarly articles, and works of creative nonfiction. Theme-related photographs, poetry, and creative writing are welcome. Submissions might include—but are not limited to—articles that examine internet-based social networks or the formation and transformation of individual communities. We are also soliciting articles relating to the growing scholarship on social capital and on the interactions between government policies and communities. Submissions on the topics of public service or service learning are especially encouraged. _Proteus_ is a refereed journal that has been published continuously for more than twenty-five years and has featured the work of leading international scholars and commentators. Manuscripts accepted — NOW until November 25, 2010 Preferred format - Chicago Manual of Style. Publication date is April 2011. Submit manuscripts and questions electronically to proteus@ship.edu.
