Beyond the Literature (General) category, the SW/TX PCA/ ACA also invites papers for one of its 70+ Area offerings in American Studies, Literature, Film, Television, Science Fiction and Fantasy, Ethnic and Gender Studies, Ecocriticism, Southwest Culture, Western Studies, Writing Pedagogy, Creative Writing, and many more! Since the 1970s, the Southwest/Texas PCA/ACA has sought to foster interdisciplinary study of popular and American literary, historical, visual, and other cultural and media texts. We like to think we are a unique organization that pioneered the study of Popular Culture before it was cool. While our offerings have grown over the years to include areas of international study, we still invite scholars and artists to share their perspectives on American life in the diverse region of the Southwest.
