Critical Misidentifications - ASECS, Vancouver 3/11full name / name of organization: Jonathan Sadow contact email: sadowjb@oneonta.edu How does eighteenth-century theory and criticism identify, overidentify, or misidentify with its subjects? How does scholarship appropriate the ideologies of the phenomena it is supposed to explain? This seminar will seek papers exploring the ways critical understandings become entwined with the discourse, philosophy, or personas of their objects of study. Although effacement, misreading, and epistemological trouble will be necessary points of discussion, this session is also open to readings that explore these relationships as necessary or productive ones. Submissions are still welcome for this panel, "Critical Misidentifications" at the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies' (ASECS) annual conference in Vancouver from March 17-20, 2011. Please send a 300-500 word abstract to sadowjb@oneonta.edu no later than September 15, 2010. My apologies for any cross-postings. --- cfp categories: eighteenth_century interdisciplinary theory
