From the unpredictable success of The Blair Witch Project to Paranormal Activity, horror has seen the emergence of a new genre: the reality horror or live recording horror.
Beyond the possible labels this trend has been the one great novelty of expression of horror cinema, next to the Eastern wave of the early years of the new millennium.

Some movie suggestions: The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, Diary of the Dead, Rec, Rec2, Cloverfield, Series 7: The Contenders, Otogiriso.

For the next issue of Ol3Media we are seeking short essays that offer insights and viewpoints on the subject.

Here are some possible perspectives from which to analyze the phenomenon:

Reality horror and cross-media narrative;
Reality horror and subjective point of view;
Reality horror marketing strategies;
Reality horror and digital aesthetics;
Reality horror and low budget productions;
Reality horror digital reading of b-movies of the '70s;
Reality horror as metacinema;
Reality horror and script styles;
Reality horror and direction;
Reality horror relationship with videogame aesthetics,

but we will also adequately evaluated proposals that analyze the phenomenon from other points of view.

Selected essays will be published in next issue of Ol3Media, online in mid-January 2011. Proposals, together with a brief biography of the author (5/6 lines), must be received by September 30 2010 while accepted papers must be completed and sent by November 10 (if in English) or December 15 (if in Italian) for the editing.
