"Posthumanisms and Animality"
Call for Papers on "Posthumanisms and Animality" for the Ninth ASLE Biennial Conference: "Species, Space and the Imagination of the Global." Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, June 22-26, 2011.
Please send a 300-word abstract for an 8 minute presentation in a "paper jam" style panel session (six or seven papers in total) and a one-page cv to Helena Feder (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Sarah McFarland (email@example.com) by November 1.
Papers on the following topics are particularly welcome:
Idea/problems of posthumanism(s) in an age of technocorporate culture
Posthumanism at work with particular animal kin or kind
Human animality and violence
Posthumanism(s) that intersect with the conference theme: questions of humans' relation to nonhuman species, both plant and animal, OR intersections between work on nonhuman species in disciplines such as biology, anthropology, philosophy, neuroscience, literature, and art.
