The M.A. graduate students in the Religious Studies Department at CU Boulder are currently accepting submissions for the 2010-11 edition of NEXT: Emerging Voices of Religious Studies Scholarship. The NEXT journal is an opportunity for master’s level graduate students to share their thoughts with the larger religious studies community, and experience the peer-review and publication process. This year, we are creating a journal that will appeal to our fellow students and push the boundaries of traditional scholarship.

We are rereleasing our call for papers, extending the submission deadline, and have expanded the submission criteria beyond its original theme and format. In addition to the standard essay, we are expanding our selection to include short opinion pieces, poems, photographs, cartoons, and book reviews. Creativity is encouraged!

We are currently accepting submissions related to all aspects of religious studies. Possibilities include:

-Education/Teaching in Religious Studies
-Religion and Nature
-New/Alternative Religious Movements
-Religion in the Public Sphere
-Philosophy of Religion
-Ritual Studies
-Religion and Law
-Interdisciplinary Studies

Our deadline for submissions is Monday, November 1st, 2010.

Please limit essays (or excerpts) to 10-15 pages, double-spaced, in Microsoft Word format. Include reliable contact information, institutional affiliation, and an abstract with your submission if applicable, and mail to next@colorado.edu. Acceptance notifications will be sent out mid-November.
