Poe and Who? American Literature Association Conference, Boston May 26-29, 2011. Organized by the Poe Studies Association.

Teaching Poe can lead to many intriguing cultural and literary mashups. For example, classes have been taught on Poe and the Simpsons; Pop Culture and Poe; Poe and Roger Corman; Memento Mori and Poe; and Poe in the Writing Classroom. This panel invites abstracts on teaching Poe in combination with any other topic. What other writers might be paired with Poe? How can Poe be linked to contemporary currents in literature and/or culture? How would Poe work in a music or philosophy class? What materials can be shared to show the practicalities of teaching Poe as mashup?
Please send 250 word abstracts and brief c.v. for papers on these or any topic related to teaching Poe as mashup to Susan Amper at susan.amper@bcc.cuny.edu by Jan. 15, 2011.
