Interdisciplinary Studiesfull name / name of organization: SWTexas Popular and American Culture Association contact email: dhartzell@marylhurst.edu Call for Papers: Interdisciplinary Studies Conference hotel: Marriott Rivercenter San Antonio Proposal submission deadline: December 15, 2010 The Interdisciplinary Studies area is seeking papers on topics of 1) popular and/or American culture for which an interdisciplinary approach has been used and explained, and 2) cultural issues related to interdisciplinarity or Interdisciplinary Studies. Suggestions are not offered for 1) —you have the floor. Suggestions for 2) include (but are not limited to): disciplinary/interdisciplinary culture and/or politics; changing epistemological landscapes in academia and society; interdisciplinarity in applied study or service learning; finding common ground in contested spaces; implications of student-led degree design; interdisciplinarity and the “real” world; imagination and interdisciplinary research; interdisciplinarity and philosophies of education; research at the edges of academia. Scholars, researchers, professionals, teachers, graduate students and others interested in this area are encouraged to submit an abstract. Graduate students are especially encouraged and will be assisted in accessing any and all award opportunities the conference and/or associations provide. Email 250 word abstracts for individual presentations or 500 word abstracts for panel proposals to Area Chair Dina Hartzell (Interdisciplinary Studies department at Marylhurst University) at dhartzell@marylhurst.edu. Please include a current CV and contact information for each participant.
