Call for Papers--Open Paper Panels. Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR)Conference, Fredericton, NB, May 28-31, 2011
The 2011 conference of the Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR) will take place at the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University in Fredericton, May 28 to 31, as part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The theme of the 2011 Congress is Coasts and Continents: Exploring Peoples and Places / Rivages et Continents: Exploration des Peuples et des Lieux.
The mandate of the Association is to support and encourage research in theatre and performance in Canada, with a special interest in Canadian work. Therefore topics related to Canadian research are especially welcome. Graduate students are expressly invited to participate. All session organizers and presenters are invited to address the Congress theme; however, proposals that depart from the official Congress theme will also be accepted. Proposals may also respond to one of the following suggested topics:
--Canadian theatre on other continents
--Intercontinental and international theatre in Canada
--Theatre on the coasts or margins
--Rising tides in theatre
--Theatre as an exploration of place
--The place of popular theatre
--People unseen / Voices unheard
--Separate continents: theory and practice
--The continental divide: language(s)
Proposals are now being sought for open paper panels featuring grouped 20-minute papers.
To be considered for a paper presentation, please submit a 300-word abstract outlining your research, its context and its significance along with a short bio to Reina Green, chair of the conference planning committee, firstname.lastname@example.org by December 1, 2010.
Acceptance will be based on academic rigor and originality.
