[UPDATE] CFP: Supernatural Panel, SF&F Area, SW/TX PCA/ACA 2011
UPDATE: This CFP has been CLOSED/REMOVED. SW/TX PCA ACA Science Fiction and Fantasy section has a comprehensive CFP for Supernatural papers here: http://call-for-papers.sas.upenn.edu/node/38357
Please consider submitting to the SW/TX PCA ACA SFF folks -- they run great panels and will no doubt have a fabulous collection of presentations in this area.
In Supernatural's season 5 episode "The Real Ghostbusters," Eric Kripke started us off with "Frightened Little Boy: The secret life of Dean Winchester" and "Homo-erotic subtext of Supernatural." If you're anything like us, that line of dialogue offered a clear, albeit sardonic, invitation to write and share some of those analyses that are begging to be explored. Over five seasons, we've seen this intriguing show take on issues of family, religion, good versus evil, destiny versus free will, what it means to be human, and other subjects rife with complication and ready for analysis and interpretation.
Join us in a panel that addresses any aspect of the television show Supernatural. We are looking for papers that offer critical and intellectual engagement with the subject. The topics and approaches are not limited. We ask only that you focus your analysis on Supernatural—episode, season, character, story arc, film making, fandom, how the show speaks to today's world, etc.—and that you take a scholarly approach.
