1) The Many Lives of Emily Dickinson
We welcome papers that think about Emily Dickinson's life in new contexts. Over the past few years, several new works of Dickinson biography have appeared, along with a number of novelizations/fictionalized/dramatized accounts of the poet's life. There have also been critical studies of Dickinson that contain fictional interludes. Why has there been renewed attention to Dickinson's biography? What aspects of Dickinson's life and contexts do they focus on? How do these works alter or complicate our understanding of the poet's life or work? Alternatively, papers could explore earlier biographies, or other genres, that offer portraits of Dickinson that we now recognize as fiction.
2) Open Topic
We welcome papers on any aspect of Emily Dickinson's life or literary work, including, but not limited to, theoretical approaches, biographical/cultural/historical contexts, manuscript study, connections with other writers, or representations/responses in literature or the arts.
