Nov. 5 & Nov. 6, 2011 Considering the power of current food journalists, Eric Schlosser and Michael Pollan, Americans have been trying to figure out ways to write about the plate for over a century. Considering the power of the food publishing industry, many voices are starting to influence the way that Americans cook, dine, and choose their foods. This panel seeks to understand food authors and how they are connected and influence American cultural standards, which are often disconnected from mainstream food ideals. Possible paper topics are not limited to: • Television Personalities and their cookbooks Scholars, graduate students, foodies and others interested in the intersection of food and culture are encouraged to submit.
