CFP: _genre_: A Thematic Journal, vol. 31 - Visual Culturesfull name / name of organization: Associated Students of Comparative World Literature, Cal State Long Beach contact email: cgoldst2@csulb.edu genre, a journal published the Associated Students of Comparative World Literature at Cal State University Long Beach, is soliciting papers for its volume on "Visual Culture & Global Practices." We are interested in works that examine literature (across time periods and languages), images, visual objects and mechanisms, and events from diverse cultures, across national boundaries, and within global contexts . Among the questions to be explored are: ** What are the visual codes of cultural works? ** What is the relationship between these works and their conditions of consumption, production and reception? ** How do images function within political, social, and economic forces? ** What is the cultural work that images do? ** How do we theorize visual culture? ** How do we read images? We invite papers, short works of fiction and graphic submissions that deal with the power and role of the image and its relationship to literature and other disciplines and methodologies. Participant from different fields -- literary theory and philosophy, aesthetics, film studies, art history and theory, theater, fine arts, graphic design, culture studies, visual and media studies, digital media and electronic arts, sociology, psychology, and cognitive science..
