MARGINALIA/MARGINALITY

Ever since Derrida expressed concern with the margins, the concept of marginality has been central to academic debates. The second issue of Text Matters will attempt to redefine the areas of marginality, and the process of constructing marginalized identities. Among other things, Text Matters seeks to engage with a textual dimension of marginality by exploring the printed and unpublished marginalia. To quote Edgar Allan Poe, “In the marginalia, too, we talk only to ourselves; we therefore talk freshly, boldly, originally, with abandonment, without conceit”.
