Special Session organized by the German Society for English Romanticism, Gesellschaft für englische Romantik (GER), Chair: Prof. Dr. Christoph Bode (LMU Munich)

Independent Minds?

In this session we mean to address questions like, How was the body-mind relationship conceptualized in Romantic science, philosophy, anthropology, aesthetics, and literature? In what relationships were exceptional individuals seen with regard to society as a whole, or to groups and classes of people? And how was the relationship between history and ideas, or what John Keats called "the grand march of intellect", generally or in particular cases conceived of?

Abstracts and a short c.v. can be sent to christoph.bode@anglistik.uni-muenchen.de by February 15, 2011.
