Studies in Comics 2.2 journal CFP - 1 April 2011 abstracts
Papers are invited for Studies in Comics volume 2.2. As the last two issues have been themed (1.2 was on autobiography and the forthcoming 2.1 focuses on Alan Moore), issue 2.2 will not
have a specific theme and will be open to all submissions. Although Studies in Comics has a particular interest in the formal properties of the medium and theoretical approaches to it
we welcome papers on any aspect of comics scholarship and criticism.
Articles should be 4,000-8,000 words, from any discipline, and with a strong critical focus. Please send 300 word abstracts to email@example.com and include the word ARTICLE in the subject heading. Submissions should be received by 1st April 2011 in the first instance. Please indicate the intended word count of the article. Completed papers will be required by 1st July 2011. All submissions will be peer reviewed and papers must be in English.
Reviews of publications and exhibitions are also welcome, as are creative submissions (original comic artwork/stories). If submitting reviews or artwork please include the words REVIEW PUBLICATION or REVIEW EXHIBITION or CREATIVE SUBMISSION in the subject heading. Reviews and creative work must be received by the same deadlines indicated above.
Submissions are welcome from both scholars and enthusiasts. Contributors are encouraged to approach comics from any discipline and to turn their attention to comics from all countries and in all languages. So whether you're a semiotician, philosopher, scientist, historian, enthusiast, cultural, literary or film critic – Studies in Comics welcomes you!
