Rhetoric of Rap (4/30/2011 Abstract; 11/4-11/6,2011) SAMLA in ATL
The Rhetoric of Rap (History of Rhetoric Panel) SAMLA
This year's SAMLA conference's special focus is "The Power of Poetry in the Modern World," and in consideration of this, the Rhetoric of Rap asks scholars to consider rap music in any form or of any time and its contributions to rhetoric.
Rap music has changed drastically over the years, both in content and linguistics. Whether the rhyming early rap or the more modern versions, rap music represents issues in economics, gender, and is a way to represent history and historical changes. Both controversial and mainstream, rap music is in many ways a powerful poetry in the modern world.
This panel invites all types of papers that integrate rap music or lyrics and the rhetoric attached to it or supported by it.
Abstracts should be 300 words or less and submitted to Shane Trayers (Macon State College) at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 30, 2011.
