Documentary Film Panel

As Bertolt Brecht noted, “Reality changes; in order to represent it, modes of representation must change.” Perhaps for that reason, among others, Documentary Cinema has experienced a strong surge in the past decade. This panel will investigate recent documentary films from a variety of critical and theoretical perspectives.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to the following:
· Documentary film rhetoric
· Short documentaries
· Global documentaries
· Propaganda and agitprop in documentary films
· Narrative documentaries
· Documentaries as politics
· Documentary film production, distribution, exhibition, and reception

Paper submitters have until March 25, 2011 to fill out the Online Proposal Submission Form at: http://www.pamla.org/2011/
